Learning to blog

I love e-mail.  Write me an e-mail and you’ll get one back, often instantly.  When someone calls me on the phone, my first thought is an annoyed, “Why didn’t that person just e-mail me?”  I’m always near a computer, and that little noise it makes when you get an e-mail–the one where it sounds like something’s dropped in a slot?  that really satisfying little chook sound?–that sound can make me come running from across the house to see what I just got.  I live with my hands on a keyboard.
But this blogging thing?  This is all new to me.  I’m trying to figure it out.  Keep it short, keep it fun, keep it friendly, right?  It’s not as casual as an e-mail, but it’s not a real polished ready-for-publication kind of thing either.   I want to reach out, let people know what I’m like, but I don’t even know if anyone’s listening.

Hello, anyone out there?

If you’re reading this and you’re not a member of my immediate family (although odds are good you are), let me know what you like to see in blogs.  Personal stuff?  Philosophizing?  Writing advice?  Fun facts?  A daily journal?

What do you like to see in a blog and why?  If you don’t want to post a public comment, then e-mail me.  Just don’t call . . .
